The Sorting

All of the first years stood waiting- for what, we didn't know. At first it was silent, then soft chatter broke out.

Suddenly, a strict-looking woman appeared. She was, from the descriptions my siblings gave me, Professor McGonagall, head of my house. She led us into a huge room which I realized was the dining hall. I looked up, and the sky was on the ceiling, like my siblings told me.

I heard something behind me, and I turned around. It appeared the hat was singing this song:

"A thousand years or more ago

sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
shrewd Slytherin, from fen.

The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!

"When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted," McGonagall said. "Abbott, Britta!"

"HUFFLEPUFF!" the Hat called out.

"Bones, Allie!"

"HUFFLEPUFF!" the Hat said again.

Then a Ravenclaw, two Gryffindors, and a Slytherin. Then, finally, after many names,

"Weasley, Clementine!"

I walked unsteadily up. I could see my brothers and sister staring at me. I sat on the stool and put the Hat on my head. As soon as it touched it, it yelled, "GRYFFINDOR!" I was too relieved to hear the cheering as I put down the hat and walked to the table on the far left.

The rest of the names were called, and then we enjoyed our feast.

I followed the prefect up to my common room, and we entered.

"Bellatrix Lestrange!" Called the woman who I knew to be prefessor Mcgonagall. People at their tables started whispering. I could tell that they were scared, some maybe interested at why a mass murderer was at their school. Well, I wasnt a murderer at all. I walked up to the stool, and Proffessor Mcgonagall placed the hat on my head. The hat spoke to me.

So, Bellatrix Lestrange's daughter huh?
Yes, I answered in my head.

Well, you would make a very nice slytherin, but I'm afraid you've got a bit too much good in you. so, let us see.....GRYFFINDOR!

He said the last word out loud. I was shocked.I was supposed to be in SLYTHERIN. No one in my family since Sirius Black had been in gryffindor. I stood up, my legs shaking. I walked to the gryffindor table.

A woman who had introduced herself as Professor Mcgonagal called my name, "Whitaker, Sapphire!"

I walked up, still a little nervous, as she put the Hat on my head. The Hat was silent for a few seconds but then said, "HUFFLEPUFF!" I heard some cheering and headed towards a table that was cheering the loudest, figuring it was my house.

"Smith, Gregory," Mcgonagall called.
Someone put a hat on my head, I heard a tiny voice said:
Hmm... Another Smith, could be Gryffindor, but I sense too much knowledge to refuse Ravenclaw, Tricky, Tricky, better be: RAVENCLAW!" That last word everyone could hear, and I walked toward a cheering table, with my 11 inch, Yew and Unicorn Hair wand.
